Consultation
Dr. Gilbert provides consultative services to help each parent clarify their concerns and facilitate a better understanding of their child’s challenges. Consultation Includes a face-to-face meeting with Dr. Gilbert to review and discuss your child’s developmental history, history of difficulties and explore a possible course of assessment and intervention. Dr. Gilbert may ask to review documentation and speak to necessary parties Involved in your child’s care.
REFERRAL SERVICES
Dr. Gilbert strongly believes in maintaining long term relationships with her patients and encourages all parents to contact her with questions and concerns that may arise alter the testing Is completed. Dr. Gilbert works to ensure that a treatment plan Is Implemented for every child with whom she works. Dr. Gilbert maintains frequent contact with school-based and private support personnel to make sure that each child works towards his/her potential.
Psychological/Neuropsychological Evaluation
A neuropsychological evaluation involves one on one testing of your child to help clarify the nature of his/her difficulties. Testing is typically conducted over the course of several sessions with the ultimate goal of providing a map of your child’s brain. Neuropsychological assessment includes intelligence and academic testing, assessment of language and visual processing skills, analysis of executive functions and an evaluation of your child’s emotional adjustment. In addition, classroom observations of your child in his/her school setting are conducted when necessary. Review of results coupled with an extensive written summary of test results are provided with the sole purpose of providing a well-developed diagnostic and treatment plan.
Educational planning and placement
Dr. Gilbert provides insight into and recommendations for school-based accommodations. In addition, she provides recommendations for appropriate school placement when necessary.
