Neuropsychological Evaluations
A neuropsychological evaluation involves a one-on-one comprehensive assessment of your child’s cognitive, emotional, and behavioral strengths and weaknesses so as to assist in educational and treatment planning. Evaluations are typically used to answer questions regarding developmental delays, challenges in skill acquisition, difficulties with attention, behavioral control, socialization or emotional functioning.
Our evaluation process occurs over the course of several sessions and includes a comprehensive parent interview, collateral data provided by teachers, therapists and services providers, a series of standardized assessments and observations to provide a map of your child’s brain. Neuropsychological evaluations include assessment of cognitive abilities, academic achievement (reading, writing, and mathematics), executive functioning (attention, planning, memory), language processing (expressive and receptive), and social-emotional adjustment.
The evaluation aims to identify cognitive strengths and weaknesses, pinpoint specific areas of difficulty, and provide recommendations for interventions and/or accommodations to support your child’s learning and overall well-being. Additionally, the evaluation involves collaboration with other professionals, such as educators, service providers, specialists, and classroom observations to ensure a comprehensive understanding of your child’s needs.
Once testing is completed, a parent conference will be scheduled to review the test results and proposed plan for your child. When appropriate, your child will receive feedback about their results. You will be provided with a comprehensive report following the feedback session.
